Keeping Dogs and Cats
in their Loving Forever Homes

Sometimes the unexpected happens and it can affect our furry family members as well as us. Many of the dogs and cats at OCAS are surrendered when they don’t need to be. Dog and Cat Foundation works with Rescues to help find a better solution. We do not work directly with pet owners. We are not a rescue.

In 2021, Orange County Animal Services took in 1,257 dogs surrendered by their owners and 1,732 cats surrendered to OCAS by their owners. This doesn’t include the 355 dogs and 118 cats who were adopted from OCAS only to be returned and in need, again, of a loving forever home. Owner surrenders are the 2nd most common situation that brings a dog and cat to the shelter. Help us Keep Dogs and Cats in their Loving Homes so we save more dogs and cats in Orange County.

If you are a Rescue in need of supplemental funding to help keep a dog or cat in their loving home, we are looking forward to hearing from you! Please email info@dogandcatfoundation.org or fill out an application.
